Whether you’re an up-and-coming startup that needs to get straight to work or a multinational business looking to land in Egypt, there are few places you could count on quite like CO-55, a co-working space built up to international standards with services and amenities that are so smooth, you and your team will come to realise that the grind doesn’t have to be so painful after all.
The coworking industry in Egypt has been booming lately, particularly with the work culture that developed after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and few have taken their place in this new world quite like CO-55. It launched three years ago with its eyes set on learning, growing and expanding. Now, they're spreading the experience with a second branch at Square One Mall at New Cairo - only this time they're doing things a little differently.
"Initially, we thought that our target audience would be startups and Egyptian SMEs that are still launching their business ideas or ones that just want a second office in another district," CO-55 tells StartupScene. "But as word of mouth boosted our reputation, we started getting booking requests and visits from multinational companies and many international corporations who were already established in Egypt, or wished to launchoperations in the Egyptian market. So we had to step up our game and live up to these big corporations' expectations of a proper serviced office."
The core of CO-55 - to provide a co-working space that is fully furnished and fully serviced with great value for money, where companies and their staff will be able to coordinate, cooperate and conquer their business goals with up-to-date facilities and great customer services - hasn't changed. They've taken that mission and given it a few upgrades. Now they offer office suites with enclosed private offices for managers and departments, and flexible layouts based on your needs, so nothing feels redundant. They also added a full room of dedicated desks with private pods for individuals and freelancers to use on a flexible, long-term basis. On top of that, they've partnered with Breadfast Coffee to operate from within CO-55's spaces, and serve their specialty coffee with a broad range of menu items.
Their new features suggest a more forward-thinking, business-savvy approach to shared spaces, one that is reflected in their new design. While the design for the first branch was driven by youth and experimentation, the Square One Mall branch shows them off as a more established force. With bolder designs and colours, and plans to expand even further across Egypt with two new branches in the pipeline, CO-55 shows how you can scale up without losing your soul.
