Attaa Digital Launches Egypt's First Arabic EdTech Creation Hackathon
The Attaa Digital Hackathon aims to encourage entrepreneurs, startups and SMEs to create Arabic-tech related content by addressing specific topics such as in VR, IoT, and AI.
While at one point edtech may have been regarded as a luxury - a case of “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it” - the past few years has shown investors and entrepreneurs the world over that, in an increasingly global system, edtech is in fact more necessary than it has ever been before. In the MENA region in particular, great strides have been made in edtech following restrictions placed on institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
To capitalise on these lessons learned to help our youth learn lessons themselves, Saudi tech pioneers Attaa Digital and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is cooperating with Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Cairo-based annual entrepreneurship event RiseUp Summit to launch the first edition of the Attaa Digital Hackathon: a unique event that invites entrepreneurs to develop the largest Arabic-language edtech platform in the region.
Bringing together two of the world’s fastest growing industries — content creation and technology— the Attaa Digital Hackathon aims to encourage entrepreneurs, startups and SMEs to create Arabic-tech related content by addressing specific topics such as in Virtual Reality, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and Cyber Security.
The hackathon will take place from August 29th to August 31st, 2022, at Maxim Royal Kempinski, Fifth Settlement. On-ground sessions will include workshops covering digital transformation, digital marketing and digital communication skills, as well as mentorships specialised in content creation, marketing and technology.
Egyptian students, tech pioneers and content creators who are eager to drive change in the region’s tech scene are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be between 18 to 30 years old. The top three teams will be awarded over LE 100,000 for their submissions. The winning team will also receive a free MBA from Agora Business School.
