Bahraini Crypto Rain Acquires KSA Financial Media Firm Ma’arefa
The crypto platform has acquired a Saudi financial media company and its newsletter network.
Rain Financial Inc, a Bahrain-based cryptocurrency brokerage and custody platform, has acquired Digital Ma’arefa, the Saudi publisher behind a network of finance and tech-focused newsletters.
The transaction closed on March 30th, 2026, with Digital Ma’arefa’s co-founders — Abdullah Mashat, Wael AlMutlaq and Abdullah Fageih — set to join Rain. Mashat will take on the role of Managing Director as the team integrates into the company’s operations.
Digital Ma’arefa publishes a range of newsletters including ‘The Finance Memo’, ‘Crypto Memo’ and ‘AI Memo’, alongside a wider news network that reaches more than one million followers and over 100,000 subscribers across the region. Rain said there will be no changes to the existing newsletters and content platforms following the acquisition.
“The Digital Ma’arefa and Rain team share the same ambition: to deliver trust at scale through combination of financial media and regulated infrastructure,” Mashat said.
“You cannot put a price on trust. Mashat and the Digital Ma’arefa team have grown the most trusted voice in crypto. We are happy they will be joining the most trusted crypto exchange,” AJ Nelson added.
Founded in 2017, Rain is licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain and Abu Dhabi Global Market, and operates across multiple jurisdictions. The company has raised $110 million in funding and serves more than two million users, with over $11 billion in total trading volume to date.
Digital Ma’arefa, founded in 2021, operates across multiple verticals including finance, crypto, tourism and artificial intelligence, and also produces an investing-focused podcast.
