Egypt Logistics Startup YFS Eyes MENA Expansion After $7M Investment
Yalla Fel Sekka will channel the funds into its machine learning capabilities and refine its operational strategies.
In the search for impactful future-focused solutions in the MENA region, an Egypt-based on-demand logistics provider, Yalla Fel Sekka (YFS), is whetting investor appetite with its pioneering approach to instant delivery and dark store management. It recently closed a $7 million Series A funding round led by DisruptAD, ADQ’s venture platform, which will help bolster the startup’s development plans and cement its leadership position in the delivery sector in Egypt.
The new funds will be deployed to expand its presence across Egypt and MENA and further develop its network of hubs for optimal productivity. Specifically, YFS will invest in its machine learning capabilities and refine its operational strategies. The Egyptian startup has witnessed exponential growth since launching its operations in March 2022. Since then it has quickly grown its fleet size, pool of drivers, micro-warehouses and dark stores to create an extensive network that is the secret of its success.
Co-founded by Khashayar Mahdavi and Yasmine Abdel Karim, YFS has managed to climb to the top of the food chain in the field thanks to its seasoned ops team and consistent efficiency gains. Its high utilization rate and expedited delivery time can be attributed to its proprietary, data-driven technology. With more than two million orders completed across five major cities in Egypt - Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Mansoura, and Tanta - YFS is the country’s reigning on-demand delivery service provider.
Business is booming according to Yasmine Abdel Karim, CEO and co-founder of YFS. "We are now delivering over 10,000 orders per day while being gross margin positive only 18 months after launch in a vibrant but competitive market. Our gross merchandise volume is growing at a monthly rate of 20% and our customer retention is above 90%.”
YFS’ digital platform and its diverse fleet of more than 1000 drivers is setting the foundation for the next generation of logistics services in the region. Building a critical infrastructure backbone, YFS is avidly working to develop the broadest urban distributed network of dark stores and micro-warehouses in Egypt.
