Egyptian E-Commerce Startup ExpandCart Scores $150,000 Funding from Hong-Kong’s Betatron Accelerator
ExpandCart is the only MENA-based startup to be selected for the three-month-long global programme.

Egyptian cloud-based e-commerce startup ExpandCart has just bagged $150,000 in funding after being chosen as one of the leading participants of the Hong Kong-based Betatron accelerator programme.
ExpandCart is a specifically designed e-commerce platform that is similar to ‘Shopify’ for the MENA region in Arabic. The startup is one of eight worldwide to be accepted into the fifth cohort of the renowned acceleration programme. The three-month Betatron accelerator invests $150,000 in each of its companies which aims to help develop each startup to reach the necessary growth and secure its next funding round.
Betatron revealed that it received a total of 1,301 applications from all around the globe for the programme, with ExpandCart being the only Arab and African startup to be selected, with the other variety being from Hong Kong (2), Singapore (3), the Philippines and the United States of America.
All participating startups have been paired with a leading industry expert from Betatron’s extensive network as a mentor, and further on-focus mentorship opportunities in sales, market, UX/UI and tech development will also be provided. The programme ends in December.
