Out of 360 submissions, a food security project proposed by the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to the 2021 World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) has been selected among the top five best projects for the prize competition.

The competition evaluates projects that use communications technology to promote sustainable development. With considerable outreach capacity, Egypt’s project addresses food insecurity in the region by targeting over 21 million users across the Middle East to help them gain access to specialised agricultural knowledge in Arabic.

The project consists of three integrated pillars, including the ‘Our Land’ portal, and uses artificial intelligence to simulate human experiences and provide a digital expert systems’ service for users. By addressing food insecurity in Egypt, the project hopes to boost agriculture production by providing local farmers with the required know-how to boost food production.
