Egyptian FoodTech Startup Yumamia Raises Investment from Celebrity Chef Manal Al Alem

The investment brings their total funding to $1.3 Million to date. The financing will help the startup expand and diversify in Egypt.

Cairo-based foodtech startup Yumamia has just snagged an investment from TV celebrity Chef Manal Al Alem, bringing their total funding to $1.3 Million to date. "We are very excited about this strategic partnership with Chef Manal. The potential from this deal is massive! Having Chef Manal onboard will not only support our growth in Egypt with the new food innovation projects we have lined up but will also massively support our expansion to Saudi Arabia as chef Manal is a household now in Saudi Arabia & rest of the region," Belal EL Borno, CEO of Yumamia. tells Startup Scene ME. 

The investment is part of an upcoming long-term partnership between Chef Manal and Yumamia, and will help the startupcore menu development along with further expansion and diversification in Egypt. On top of the cash investment, Al Alem is going to act as a brand ambassador for Yumamia as well as the culinary mastermind for their future menu development. 

Yumamia's founder, Belal El Borno, who was selected as on of the 16 most influential figures in 2016 by CairoScene.

Founded in 2014, Yumamia is a food delivery app that offers junk-free and clean food using premium ingredients and top hygiene standards making clean eating the most convenient & affordable food choice for people everyday. "Chef Manal Al Alem partnership is not only going to help us take Yumamia to the next level but it’s also a great validation to what we have achieved so far," adds El Borno, who was selected as on of the 16 most influential figures in 2016 by CairoScene.
