Egyptian matchmaking app, Hawaya, is bringing its dating platform to France, a country with more than six million Muslims. Hawaya’s ‘serious relationship’ matchmaking app targets single Muslims looking for a committed relationship. The company has already expanded into 12 countries in 2020, helping facilitate relationships all across the Muslim diaspora.
Hawaya offers users a safe experience, providing detailed profile information detailing lifestyle choices, mutual interests and marriage goals. The app has a range of unique features like enabling an exclusive conversation and a selfie verification as part of the sign up process.
The word Hawaya is derived from the Arabic word ‘Hawa’ which means love. Driven by the belief that serious relationships should be built on shared values, goals and interests first before love can enter the mix.
Since its founding in 2017 by Sameh Saleh, Tamer Saleh and Shaymaa Ali, Haways is now one of the most popular muslims matchmaking apps globally with almost five million users across 13 countries.

For the launch of this campaign, Hawaya worked with Franco Algerian film director, Yamina Benguigui, former Ministre de la Francophonie (French speaking world). Together they created two romcoms conveying Hawaya’s support of women empowerment through giving them agency to find and choose suitable, like-minded characters.
