Founded in 2019, Foundation Ventures has officially launched its first fund, one that is targeting early-stage investment in Egypt, ranging from Pre-Seed to Series A. Managed by Mazen Nadim, Omar Barakat, and Ziyad Hamdy, in partnership with US VC, HOF, and Egyptian private equity company, BPE Partners, the fund is said to be backed by some of the largest family offices in Egypt and the region.

During its initial deployment, Foundation Ventures led/co-led several big deals, including investments in Capiter, NowPay and Minly, as well as a fourth undisclosed startup. They have co-invested in collaboration with 12 regional and international venture capital firms.

Through the fund, Foundation Ventures has looked to back startups building high-impact new tech and the firm’s strategy is based on leveraging resources afforded by its partners to allow startups the chance at rapid growth. It also aims to work closely with founders and entrepreneurs to support fundraising activities.
