Jordan-based Arabic conversational AI platform, Xina AI, has secured a $1 million seed round led by Jordanian angel investors and a Qatari family office. The platform automates customer support queries with the world’s first ever Arabic interactive voice assistant (IVA). The Jordanian startup plans to use its new fund to fuel expansion across the GCC and bolster its intellectual property development.

Following a successful pilot in Jordan, Xina has plans to expand into the GCC, targeting Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar with help from regional investors, alliances and partnerships. The startup is working towards improving the precision of its algorithm as well as integrating more regional dialects including Levantine, Egyptian and GCC - which will help boost its intellectual property system.

“AI-based spending in the region will increase at a compound annual growth rate of 19%,” Sari Hweitat, CEO and founder of Xina, explained. “The investment will put us on the map of Arabic conversational AI.” The tech and management team at Xina aims to spearhead the development of conversational Arabic through its use of AI, which helps to solve subtle variances in accents and dialects from one speaker to the next. Xina effectively relies on local linguistic and behavioral preferences to optimize the Arabic-speaking customer experience.

Although still in its early stages, Xina AI has a big vision for the future of voice-powered technologies in the region, vying to transform communication by uncovering Novel AI and speech recognition uses in day-to-day life. The startup’s innovative AI capabilities and machine-learning tools have the potential to transform and improve the standard customer support model.
