Saudi Ticketing Platform webook.com Acquires Portugal’s SmartMove

webook.com, a Saudi live entertainment and ticketing platform, has acquired Portugal-based event technology and sports ticketing company SmartMove for an undisclosed amount, establishing its first operational base in Europe.

Announced in Riyadh on June 10th, the deal brings SmartMove's capabilities in ticketing, memberships, access control, customer relationship management, e-commerce and digital event operations into webook.com's platform.

According to the company, webook.com serves more than 17 million users across over 180 countries and has processed more than 40 million ticket booking requests.

SmartMove brings more than three decades of experience and provides ticketing and fan membership systems for major Portuguese football clubs, the Portuguese Football Federation, the Portuguese Professional Football League, national cup competitions and corporate platforms.

The company said Portugal was chosen as its gateway into Europe due to the country's strengths in football, tourism, digital infrastructure and live events.

Founded in Saudi Arabia, webook.com said the acquisition forms part of its broader international expansion strategy. The company added that further partnerships and projects in Europe are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
