Seedstars World, the largest startup competition for emerging markets and rapid-growing startup landscapes is coming to Egypt where Seedstars will be holding an extensive training and pitch event on August 21 and 22 at the Seedspace Hub in Maadi, Cairo.

“For the 6th year in a row, we provided the most promising ones with tools that will enable them to make their businesses more robust and eventually scale up impact both in Egypt and in the MENA Region. We strengthened their roots and aim at giving the best startups wings,” says Francesca Bombassei, Venture Capital Analyst at Seedstars World.

The startups invited to the training session as well as the private pitch session at the Seedstars Cairo event need to be less than two years old, have raised less than $500,000 in funding and built a minimally viable product, ideally with existing traction. Additionally, the Seedstars team is seeking an additional criterion; the startup’s regional and global scalability.

On the first day of the event, Seedstars will be holding a dynamic training session for entrepreneurs which will cover topics around “Investment Readiness” and the “Art of the Pitch.” Moreover, the event will host a variety of mentorship sessions with experts from the market, including Zeina Mandour from Cairo Angels, Sara Enan from Flat6Labs Cairo, and Khaled Ismail from HIMAngels. After a careful screening and training process on the event’s first day, the Seedstars team will shortlist around 10 of the best seed-stage startups in Cairo to pitch on the event’s second day for a chance to compete at the annual Seedstars Summit taking place in Switzerland. The list of the Jury members will include Francesca Bombassei from Seedstars World, Ziad Mokhtar from Algebra Ventures, and Omar Barakat from BECO Capital and Amr Mostafa from Endeavor Egypt.

The event is mainly sponsored by the Swiss Embassy in Egypt, which “works together with Egypt to increase the resilience of the economy, creating more and better jobs through a more competitive private sector,” said Adrian Hauri, Counsellor at the Embassy of Switzerland in Egypt. Further support is provided by Careem as transportation partners.
