UAE E-Commerce Logistics Startup AHOY Eyes KSA Expansion After Raising $2.2 Million Seed Investment

E-commerce and logistics are becoming increasingly crowded sectors, but AHOY thinks it has what it takes to stand out from the crowd.

Staff Writer

UAE-based e-commerce logistics startup, AHOY, has announced that it has raised an impressive $2.2 million in seed funding. Coming from an undisclosed GCC-based corporate VC, the investment is the second for the startup, after it raised an angel investment in 2018.

While e-commerce is becoming an increasingly busy sector in UAE, AHOY has been able to separate itself from the crowd somewhat, claiming to be the only startup, globally, to provide micro-multimodal mobility with secure hot and cold supply chain logistics for last mile operations.

Founded by serial entrepreneurs Jamil Shinawi, Gerard Sansoni and Adel Samer, AHOY operates its delivery services with three food related e-commerce companies, servicing a total of around 3,000 people. With the new investment, the startup hopes to expand operations in UAE, while also keeping one eye on potential expansion to KSA, where e-commerce delivery and logistics have reached peak demand amidst the pandemic.
