UAE-based GovTech Startup 01Gov Raises Six-Figure Seed Investment

Dubai-based GovTech startup 01Gov has scored a six-figure seed investment led by celebrated innovator, entrepreneur and the first Emirati to graduate from MIT’s International Space University in 1988, Dr. Saeed Khalfan Al Daheri.

Amid the widespread moves towards digital transformation to existing structures, 01Gov is aiming to bolster the public sector with its tech-enabled solutions. The term ‘GovTech’ refers to applying emerging technologies (such as A.I, blockchain, data processing, etc.) to government domanis. According to MAGNiTT, the startup is the first Arab platform for government innovation that would supply a wide range of products, as well as equipped to provide government leaders and employees with the necessary skill sets to adopt these systems.

“Only one Arab country has managed to secure a spot within the top 50 countries on the 2019 Global Innovation Index,” Elbadawi said. “While many Arab states have announced bold and futuristic national visions, turning those visions into reality requires a digital, agile, and innovative public sector that belongs to the 21 st century,” Ibrahim Ahmed Elbadawi, Founder and CEO of 01Gov said.
