UAE’s Edu-Tech Startup Coded Minds Acquires North American EdgeMakers Learning Lab

The acquisition marks the first time a U.S. based startup gets taken over by a Middle Eastern startup.

Dubai-based education technology startup Coded Minds announces the acquisition of EdgeMakers STEM Learning Lab, a USA and Canada-based startup leading innovative STEM and leadership education for children and teachers in North America.

Through this acquisition, the global best practice and STEM 2.0 curriculum will now be available through Coded Minds education course providing platform operating worldwide.

The recent merger comes after Coded Minds’s closing of the first round of funding from AlArabi Investments as an ongoing effort to expand their regional footprint and flourish in multiple markets. The deal is said to have been the first time a 100% acquisition has been made by a GCC-based private education company in North America.

“Coded Minds is on a mission to close the education-skills gap and prepare students of all ages for the post-Fourth Industrial Revolution world in the 21stCentury. We have reverse-engineered education with a practical, hands-on problem solving and project-based curriculum. We empower children and adults to be creative, innovative thinkers and entrepreneurs in their quest for knowledge,” says Omar Farooqi, founder and President of Coded Minds.

 EdgeMarkers is an elite 50-member education team providing STEM/STEAM education, innovation and leadership education, as well as professional development and design thinking programmes, whom will all becoming an addition to the startup’s team. Dr. Gina Cherowski, founder of EdgeMakers STEM Learning Lab believes that the merger is an opportunity for the startup to contribute in improving the quality of education worldwide.
