Resemble AI has secured a strategic investment from Wa’ed Ventures to support expansion into Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East.

Based in California, Resemble AI develops technologies focused on AI voice generation and real-time detection of deepfakes and synthetic media. The investment will support the deployment of its verification and detection tools across organisations in the region, with systems designed to operate within local data sovereignty and security frameworks.

Resemble AI’s platform can analyse voice and audio content through both cloud and on-premise deployments, allowing government agencies, defence institutions and regulated industries to run detection systems without sending sensitive data to external servers.

According to Wa’ed Ventures, the investment aligns with broader efforts to strengthen artificial intelligence governance, digital trust frameworks and content authenticity standards as adoption of AI technologies expands across Saudi Arabia.

The investment also comes amid a global rise in AI-generated fraud. Industry estimates indicate that deepfake-related scams caused more than $25 billion in losses in 2024, with projections suggesting losses could reach $40 billion by 2027.

Resemble AI previously raised $13 million in a strategic funding round backed by investors including Google’s AI Future Fund, Sony Innovation Fund, Javelin and Ubiquity. The company’s expansion plans in the Middle East are expected to focus on organisations requiring secure AI verification and fraud detection systems across critical sectors.
