Calo Expands to UK With Fresh Fitness Food & Detox Kitchen Deals
Calo has entered the UK market by acquiring ready-meal brands Fresh Fitness Food and Detox Kitchen.

Saudi-based foodtech startup Calo has officially expanded to the UK through the acquisition of two British ready-meal delivery brands: Fresh Fitness Food and Detox Kitchen. The move marks Calo’s first international expansion outside the GCC since its launch in 2019.
Founded in Bahrain by Ahmed Alrawi and Moayed Almoayed, Calo offers personalised meal subscriptions tailored to fitness and dietary goals. The company operates in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar, and delivered over 10 million meals in 2024 alone. Calo’s platform uses a nutritionist-approved algorithm to customise meal plans based on body metrics, fitness objectives, and user preferences.
Following the acquisition, Fresh Fitness Food customers will transition to Calo in May, while Detox Kitchen customers will join the platform this month. Both groups will be shifted onto Calo’s service with similar meal plan options.
Calo’s UK offering will include a range of ready-to-eat meals, starting at £11 per day. Meals will be prepared daily from a London-based kitchen, with deliveries handled by Calo’s own fleet within London and by DPD across the rest of the country. The company is also exploring options to establish its own national delivery network.
The UK expansion follows Calo’s $25 million Series B funding round, led by Nuwa Capital with participation from STV and Khwarizmi Ventures, which valued the company at approximately $250 million. Calo plans to further its international expansion into Europe and the United States.
