EdVentures Named Africa’s Investor of the Year for EdTech Innovation
Nahdet Misr's EdTech-focused venture capital has been recognized as Africa’s top investor for 2024 at the Global Startup Awards.
EdVentures, the corporate venture capital arm of Nahdet Misr Group focused on EdTech investments, has been named Investor of the Year 2024 in Africa at the Global Startup Awards (GSA). The Cairo-based firm triumphed over 69 other nominees to claim the top honour among 14 leading companies from across the continent.
The award underscores EdVentures' commitment to advancing innovation in the education sector, while providing critical support to startups in the rapidly growing EdTech space by empowering entrepreneurs and fostering cutting-edge educational solutions.
The Global Startup Awards, known for being the largest independent competition in the global startup ecosystem, recognises excellence in entrepreneurship across multiple sectors. GSA Africa, part of the Global Innovation Initiative Group (GIIG), focuses on promoting startups that align with sustainable development goals. Through its continent-wide platform, the GSA helps amplify the visibility of emerging tech solutions, facilitating access to networks and investment opportunities aimed at addressing global challenges.
By offering a mix of funding, incubation, and acceleration programs, the company has been instrumental in developing new educational technologies and fostering the growth of promising EdTech startups. Its mission to empower youth, create job opportunities, and drive educational transformation in Egypt and across Africa is at the heart of its operations.
Since its launch in 2017, EdVentures has supported over 77 startups and invested in 22 of them, with a focus on scaling high-impact educational solutions. The firm’s investments have spanned various areas of EdTech, from online learning platforms to AI-driven educational tools, all aimed at enhancing learning outcomes for students across the region.
