Flend Earns First-Ever Startup Label Under Egypt’s National Charter
The digital SME financing platform secured certification under the National Startup Charter in February 2026.
Flend, an Egypt-based digital financing platform for small and medium enterprises, has become the first company to receive the Startup Label under Egypt’s National Startup Charter.
The approval followed Flend’s application through Startup Egypt in February 2026. The certification is issued by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA), the entity mandated to grant the Startup Label.
The government-recognised classification confirms that a company meets national criteria for innovation, scalability, technology enablement and investment readiness. Certified companies are eligible for regulatory facilitation, streamlined engagement with government entities and a range of incentives designed to support early-stage and scaling startups.
“Receiving the Startup Label as the first certified company under the National Charter is a strong validation of our technology-driven model and our commitment to supporting SME growth. This milestone reflects not only Flend’s journey, but also the maturity of Egypt’s startup ecosystem and the government’s commitment to creating a structured, transparent, and growth-oriented environment for innovative companies,” Nehal Helmy, Co-Founder of Flend, said.
Flend stated that it will continue expanding digital financial solutions for SMEs, with a focus on improving access to finance and contributing to sustainable economic growth in Egypt.
