Egypt’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Startup Egypt to expand financial, technical and institutional support available to entrepreneurs and startups.

The agreement was signed by Startup Egypt Board of Trustees Chair Maged Ghoneima, with MSMEDA CEO Mostafa Hassan announcing the partnership. Hany Emad, Head of MSMEDA’s Central Venture Capital Sector, and senior officials from both organisations were also present.

Under the memorandum, MSMEDA will develop initiatives aimed at helping startups improve operational efficiency, competitiveness and long-term sustainability. Support will include specialised training for founders alongside access to financing and technical services.

The programmes will also focus on refining business models and strengthening managerial, technical and marketing capabilities, with the aim of helping companies scale within Egypt and enter international markets.

Hassan said the partnership forms part of wider efforts to create a more coordinated entrepreneurship ecosystem, bringing together public and private organisations involved in supporting founders at different stages of development.

The initiative also aligns with MSMEDA’s role in the Ministerial Group for Entrepreneurship and its participation in implementing Egypt’s Startup Charter, which is intended to establish clearer mechanisms and a more supportive environment for innovative businesses.
