RewirEd Summit Seeks to Reimagine Education at Dubai’s Expo 2020
The summit, taking place from 12-14 December, will unveil experiments and ideas to provoke a systemic reimagining of education.
RewirEd, a first-of-its-kind platform that seeks to drive the global reimagining of future education, is set to host its flagship global education summit this December at Expo 2020 Dubai, led by UAE-based philanthropic organisation, Dubai Cares.
Held in coordination with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), the summit seeks to explore new, collectively-led approaches to challenges in education, and to discuss a multilateral vision coupled with a concrete action plan to shape the future of education.
Gathering key stakeholders including governments, business leaders, and youth leaders from around the world, the summit will involve unveiling a series of experiments and co-designed ideas to help provoke systemic shifts in perspectives to address the structural challenges within education.
Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, CEO at Dubai Cares, declared that "Expo 2020 Dubai provides us with a unique opportunity to have a global conversation on the future of education, especially given the education disruption we have witnessed during the past 15 months due to the pandemic.”
Meanwhile, the UN Special Envoy for Global Education and former Prime Minister of the UK, Gordon Brown, reiterated the comments, stating that "we have to be the first generation in history where every single child goes to school, but COVID-19 has set us back,” and that development of education must unleash the potential of not just some, but all children.
Key international organisations including UNICEF, UNESCO, UNHCR, the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Bank, and the UN Special Envoy for Education have joined forces for the summit, showcasing the rich array of organisations dedicated to reimagining education.
Running from 12-14 December, 2021, the RewirEd Summit will take place during Expo 2020’s Knowledge and Learning Week.
