botim money, the financial services arm of botim, has partnered with TerraPay to expand cross-border remittances, with an initial focus on African markets where mobile wallets play a central role in receiving funds.

The integration allows botim money users to send money through direct bank transfers and instant mobile wallet payouts using TerraPay’s global infrastructure. A key feature of the collaboration is real-time validation across most payout countries, enabling verification of recipient details before a transfer is initiated, a step designed to reduce failed or delayed transactions.

For remittance customers in the UAE, the partnership is positioned to improve speed, transparency and reliability. Initial corridors include Uganda, Kenya, Ghana and Egypt, markets where mobile wallets are widely used as primary payout channels. TerraPay also gains access to botim money’s extensive UAE user base through the live integration.

The expansion comes as remittance flows to Africa continue to grow. In 2024, inflows to the continent were estimated at $96.4 billion, representing around 5.2% of Africa’s GDP, underscoring the role of remittances as a critical source of household income.

According to botim, the collaboration strengthens its global remittance infrastructure, particularly across African corridors, by improving transaction success rates and delivery times. TerraPay said the partnership combines its real-time wallet validation and global payments reach with botim money’s distribution in the UAE, supporting more secure and efficient cross-border transfers while addressing trust and financial inclusion in digital remittances.
