The UAE-based fintech will use the round to expand internationally, develop its AI platform and grow its engineering team.

UAE-based fintech Synapse Analytics has raised $13 million in a Series A round led by Partech, with participation from Algebra Ventures and Silicon Badia.

The investment brings the company’s total funding to $17 million since its founding in 2018 and will support regional and international expansion, product development and new engineering hires.

Synapse Analytics builds AI software for banks and other financial institutions, with a focus on automating credit assessment, lending decisions, fraud prevention and anti-money laundering operations.

Its platform allows financial institutions to configure decision-making policies around individual products, customers and risk requirements rather than relying on fixed processes. Teams can test, adjust and deploy policies in real time, reducing the time between identifying a risk or operational issue and implementing a response.

The technology also supports customer onboarding, collections and account monitoring, while allowing institutions to segment customers by value and prioritise engagement.

Synapse is also addressing data governance requirements that can limit the adoption of AI within regulated financial institutions. Its software can be deployed on internal servers, through cloud infrastructure or within fully isolated environments, allowing banks to keep sensitive information within their chosen infrastructure while applying AI to financial workflows.

The company plans to use part of the Series A funding to expand into new markets and deepen its presence in existing ones, while growing its engineering team and developing its product suite.
