DMZ Cairo, an extension of Canada's DMZ startup incubator, is inviting tech startups to apply for Cycle 3 of its Incubator program before March 31st, 2024. Located within the Universities of Canada (UCE) campus in the New Administrative Capital, DMZ Cairo aims to support tech entrepreneurs from across Egypt. Funded in partnership with the Academy for Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), this initiative comes as part of a broader effort to provide resources and opportunities for startups to thrive in the MENA region and beyond, with a specific focus on fostering innovation and growth.

The program offers selected participants an immersive 8-month experience, tailored to their individual startup needs. DMZ Cairo is known for its highly customized and impactful programming, providing entrepreneurs with the necessary skills, tools, and networking opportunities crucial for success. Additionally, startups in Cycle 3 have the chance to receive up to LE 300,000 in equity-free financing, thanks to DMZ Cairo's partnership with ASRT and the National Tech Incubators Program (INTILAC).

DMZ Cairo extends its support beyond the incubation period, offering participants the opportunity to join DMZ YYZ, a soft-landing program based in Toronto, Canada. This program assists startups in exploring the North American market, providing invaluable insights and connections for growth-stage ventures. In addition to its local impact, DMZ Cairo is expanding its networking efforts regionally within the MENA region. By connecting participants with other DMZ counterparts across the Middle East and North Africa, as well as with Canada's expert networks, DMZ Cairo aims to create a global bridge for startups.

"Following two impactful cycles of its Incubator program, DMZ Cairo continues to be a driving force behind the success of Egyptian startups,” Abdullah Snobar, Executive Director of DMZ and CEO of DMZ Ventures, tells StartupScene. “As the program expands, Cairo-based tech founders will not only benefit from resources and connections in the local ecosystem but will also tap into opportunities provided by DMZ’s global network.”

One of the standout features of DMZ Cairo's Incubator program is its inclusivity and support for women entrepreneurs. “This year, we're expanding our personalized support to encourage more women entrepreneurs to apply and join our cohorts,” Menna Rabie, DMZ Cairo Director, says. “Our program prioritizes providing comprehensive support, not just technically and financially, but also socially and psychologically, ensuring a women-friendly environment."
