Around $12 million was allocated to startups in Dubai in 2025, marking an increase of more than 25% compared to 2024, as part of efforts to expand support for new ventures across priority sectors.

The funding was deployed by Dubai SME, a government entity focused on developing small and medium enterprises. According to officials, the investment was directed towards scalable business models aligned with Dubai’s economic agenda and made available to UAE nationals who met approved criteria.

The allocation coincided with the inaugural Future Majlis, a three-day programme that brought together around 50 participants divided into eight teams. The groups worked on challenges presented by government and private entities, developing concepts designed to transition into supported startups following the programme.

Focus areas included technology, artificial intelligence, and logistics. Projects were evaluated based on founder capability, sector expertise, alignment with priority industries, and their potential economic contribution. While selected winners received targeted support, additional teams identified as promising were also granted access to development resources.

Support mechanisms extended beyond initial funding to include business model development, mentorship, and access to markets and procurement channels. Winning teams also received tailored backing and connections to both local and international opportunities. The top three projects were Majlis Al Rowad, Basco, and Tatoor Programme.

The initiative forms part of broader plans to expand Dubai’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, with a target of launching 27,000 projects by 2033. Additional programmes focus on enabling market entry, including initiatives that support e-commerce participation through platforms such as Noon and Amazon.
