Sakneen: Reinventing the Real Estate Industry

As COVID-19 forces nearly every industry and sector out there to rethink the way they work, and the products and services they offer, new sub-sectors leveraging technology are emerging every day. The latest hype? PropTech. “It’s anything and everything to do with innovating in real estate,” explains Ramy Khorshed, co-founder and CEO of Sakneen. Egypt’s latest startup to enter the coveted Y Combinator accelerator cycle in San Francisco, Sakneen joins the ranks with the likes of Airbnb, Dropbox, Reddit, Gitlab and more as graduates.

Facilitating and demystifying the real estate purchase process through a unique consumer-facing search engine and comparison platform, Sakneen is set to shake up the sector.

“Beyond the technology, it’s just speaking the consumer’s language. The information is out there, but it’s not very understandable,” explains co-founder and CTO, Hussein El Kheshen, who goes on to explain that their experience in San Francisco at Y Combinator gave them the opportunity to think out loud with some of the most experienced entrepreneurs and technologists in the world to refine their solution.
