Egyptian Healthtech Startup Docspert Health Raises Six-Figure USD Investment to Expand into GCC

Egyptian telemedicine startup, Docspert Health, has announced that it has raised a six-figure USD investment from Flat6Labs alongside a group of angel investors from the UK and USA. Despite only launching in February 2020, Docspert Health boasts offices in Egypt and the UK, and with this investment, it hopes to expand its services to further across Egypt, before setting its sights on GCC markets.

Founded by a team of medical doctors, is the first telemedicine platform in MENA that connects patients across the region to international medical experts through online and video conferencing. With many in Egypt, and indeed the region, riddled with complex medical needs only offered abroad, Docspert Health removes the travel factor. It offers services in over 40 medical specialties and leverages a network of more than 100 international experts, hand-picked from the USA, UK and Europe. Users can book video conferences with a specialist, seek a medical opinion or even a multidisciplinary opinion for more complex cases, which sees a panel of up to four experts for a collaborative consultation. In addition, users are assigned a dedicated Arabic-speaking case manager who will assist patients throughout the whole process.

They were keen to help Docspert Health in its journey to provide the best medical advice to the people of the Middle East and Africa.”

The investment marks a promising start to 2021 for Docspert Health, but it could get even better very soon. The startup is currently taking part in Flat6Labs Cairo’s current, ongoing cohort and will participate in a demo day in February.

For Prof. Mehanna and the team, their efforts feed into a wider goal of making expert medical consultation accessible to more people and has, over the last year, pledged 5% of all profits to providing free consultations for patients who can’t afford their services. “The founders are all clinicians,” Mehanna added. “Helping people is in Docspert Health’s DNA."
