The Unikorn 10, an annual list that scours the global entrepreneurial ecosystem for the most influential and impactful accelerators and incubators, has this year included Gaza Sky Geeks it its tenth spot.

Founded in 2011 to provide opportunities in an an area of the world where they are few and far between, the accelerator has been included for its remarkable strides in tackling Palestine’s employment challenges. Offering everything from full-stack code development bootcamps, to on-campus university tech training as part of its annual programmers, Gaza Sky Geeks also doubles up as an extensive and resourceful co-working space.

The accelerator has and continues to be backed by the likes of Google and another accelerator on the Unikorn 10 list, Techstars, and has the adoration of the whole ecosystem for functioning, changing and developing despite the countless challenges faced by any and every startup in Palestine – think no access to airports, legal trade routes and even the trials and the tribulations posed by not having regular water and electricity.

The list placed the Hultz Proze Global Accelerator in first place, while other standout names include Y Combinator, 500 Startups, Wayra and Changelabs.
