Cairo-Based Garment IO Secures $450,000 in Funding

The startup plans to streamline its operations helping local fashion companies increase productivity more efficiently.

Cairo-baed Garment IO, a SaaS (Software as a Service) for garment producers, just raised $450,000, closing its seed round from Egypt Ventures and 500 Startups (Falcons) which they plan to use for future investment in their Egypt operations. Garment IO helps garment producers increase productivity using real-time data from production lines through a plug-and-play IoT smart terminal.

The company was founded in 2017 by Ahmed Nounou and Mahmoud Sabae. “We plan to strengthen our capabilities as an industry to streamline the sales and operations functions, to make it faster and more efficient. It’s also helps enhance our product in reliability and user experience and to expand to more factories while keeping the product robust,” Nounou tells Startup Scene.

Garment IO terminals can be installed easily on all factory machines, requiring just a simple power outlet and Wi-Fi. In addition to using the terminals for data, they can also be used for employee check-ins.

The software provides information on production order tracking and bottlenecks, style tracking, live transaction feed, quality level, machines downtime among other things in English and in Arabic as well. In the near future, the startup hopes to expand to Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco, and Turkey as well. For now though, they’re helping local fashion companies make strides in their advancements.
