EFG Holding Secures $40 Million EBRD Loan for MSME Financing
The four-year facility will be channelled through eligible EFG subsidiaries to expand MSME financing, particularly in underserved areas.
EFG Holding has secured a $40 million senior unsecured loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to expand financing for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Egypt.
The four-year facility includes a one-year grace period and will be channelled through eligible EFG Holding subsidiaries, with a focus on businesses in underserved regions. The funding will support liquidity and working-capital needs while giving the group additional capacity to grow its MSME financing portfolio.
The agreement marks the first EBRD facility extended directly to EFG Holding at the holding-company level. The bank has previously provided financing to subsidiaries including Bank NXT, Tanmeyah and Valu.
EFG Holding said the facility will also diversify its funding sources and provide more stable medium-term capital for eligible non-bank financial institution subsidiaries serving different customer segments and regions.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of EFG Hermes’ 12th Annual London Investor Conference, which brings together institutional investors, listed companies and capital-market participants focused on opportunities across the Middle East and North Africa.
