Egypt's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) and Banque Misr have signed a LE 500 million financing agreement under the Tamkeen Microfinance 3 programme to support the expansion of existing micro enterprises across the country.

The agreement will see MSMEDA provide Banque Misr with LE 500 million to finance eligible micro enterprise owners. The funding will be directed towards working capital and the purchase of machinery and equipment to help businesses expand production, improve competitiveness and create both permanent and temporary jobs.

The programme targets existing micro enterprises that obtain a tax card after the agreement's signing. Loan values will range from more than LE 80,000 to LE 400,000, with repayment periods between 12 and 36 months.

According to MSMEDA, the programme is expected to benefit around 2,500 micro enterprises while supporting efforts to integrate more businesses into the formal economy. Eligible businesses will also be able to access incentives under the MSME Development Law No. 152 of 2020 and the simplified tax regime introduced under Law No. 6 of 2025.

The agreement builds on the two organisations' previous collaborations through Tamkeen 1, launched in 2021 with LE 500 million, and Tamkeen 2, launched in 2024 with LE 300 million.
