The Egyptian startup’s pre-seed raise cements its position in a void of accessible information and guidance for parenting.

Egyptian parent-and-child platform, Mumerz, has announced the raise of a $1.2 million pre-seed round led by locally-based fund, Disruptech, as it continues to fill the void of accessible information and guidance for parenting. Mumerz also doubles-up as an e-commerce platform specialising in parent and children products.

Co-founded by Amir Shenouda and Nadia Gamal El Din - the latter also the founder of Rahet Bally, a platform dedicated to mothers -  Mumerz’s blog features a variety of different articles, relating to everything from pregnancy and motherhood, to childcare, while the e-commerce platform offers next-day delivery.

While the startup is certainly unique in its make-up and offerings, the boom in Egypt’s e-commerce has certainly played a part in attracting investors. The sector has experienced a remarkable 400% YoY increase in funding, while also accounting for 21% of all capital invested across Egypt in 2021.
