Oman's Bank Dhofar to Issue $400 Million in AT1 Capital Instruments
The issuance, equivalent to around $400 million, will be carried out under the bank's existing $500 million EMTN programme.
Bank Dhofar has approved the issuance of up to OMR 154 million (approximately $400 million), or its equivalent in US dollars or other major currencies, through Additional Tier 1 (AT1) capital instruments.
The planned issuance was approved by the bank's shareholders and forms part of its strategy to strengthen its capital base while supporting future growth.
According to the bank, the AT1 capital instruments will be issued under its existing $500 million Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) programme. The bank said the issuance may be denominated in Omani rials, US dollars or other major currencies, subject to market conditions.
Additional Tier 1 capital instruments are commonly used by banks to reinforce their regulatory capital position, helping them meet capital adequacy requirements while providing greater financial resilience.
Further details, including the timing and structure of the issuance, are expected to be announced in due course.
