PopArabia, a UAE-based music rights and publishing company, has acquired Viral Wave, a UAE-headquartered music distribution startup backed by Cairo-based venture capital firm A15, marking the firm’s ninth exit.

Under the agreement, Viral Wave will operate as PopArabia’s dedicated distribution and label services division, with its Egypt-based team integrated into the company’s regional operations across digital distribution, monetisation and artist services.

PopArabia is the Middle East partner of Reservoir Media, a New York-listed music company, extending the reach of the combined platform across global markets.

Originally spun out of ARPUPlus, A15’s venture-building arm, Viral Wave provides services including digital distribution, YouTube management and monetisation across major streaming platforms. The company has administered a catalogue generating more than 55 billion streams, working with regional artists such as Ramy Sabry, Ahmed Saad and Ruby.

“A15's ninth exit is a meaningful milestone, and one that reflects the consistency our team has built over more than two decades of investing and company-building,” Karim Beshara, Managing Partner at A15, says. “We are proud of what the Viral Wave and ARPUPlus teams have achieved, and we congratulate them on reaching this outcome.”

Founded in 2011, PopArabia has built a regional presence in music publishing and licensing, including a joint venture with Reservoir to support Arabic talent globally.

“We are proud to have supported Viral Wave from inception through to this strategic outcome,” Medhat Karam, CEO of ARPUPlus, says. “We congratulate the Viral Wave team and wish them continued momentum as they integrate into one of the region's most significant music platforms.”

The transaction expands PopArabia’s distribution capabilities while reflecting continued consolidation in the region’s digital music sector.
