Startup Scene

Qatar Development Bank’s Startup Qatar Investment Program is offering technology startups up to $5.5 million to establish or expand operations in the country, alongside support covering licensing, visas, workspace, hiring and market access.

The programme’s GROW track targets more established companies, while the START track offers earlier-stage founders up to $1.1 million. Funding is released in tranches linked to agreed milestones.

The package also includes waivers on registration and licence renewal fees, flexible work and entrepreneur visa options, subsidised coworking space and support with recruitment and internships. Startups can access innovation and R&D grants, training, mentoring and skills development, while market-access support includes opportunities for technology adoption by relevant industries and product showcases at booths and exhibitions.

The programme is aimed at startups developing high-growth, innovative or knowledge-based businesses that can contribute to Qatar’s economic expansion. While it identifies priority sectors, it remains open to disruptive companies more broadly, positioning the scheme as both an investment vehicle and a relocation package for startups considering Qatar as a regional base.
