Strataphy Raises $6M in Pre-Seed to Scale Subsurface Cooling for AI

The startup’s PrimeLoop platform addresses energy-intensive cooling challenges in MENA’s industrial and hyperscale infrastructure.

Startup Scene

Strataphy, a deep-tech company focused on cooling infrastructure, has raised $6 million in seed funding led by Outliers VC, with participation from Shorooq and PlusVC. The capital will support technology advancement, expansion of its full-service platform, and growth of its engineering and operations teams for deployments across industrial facilities, giga-projects, and hyperscale data centres in MENA and beyond.

Cooling represents a critical constraint on industrial and AI infrastructure expansion. In hot-climate regions, cooling can account for nearly half of total electricity consumption, placing particular pressure on rapidly growing markets in the Middle East, where annual spending exceeds $120 billion. Strataphy’s PrimeLoop subsurface system uses deep, stable thermal energy to cool facilities while reducing power requirements, lowering operating costs, and enabling more efficient energy management.

Co-founded by Dr. Ammar Alali and Ahmed Alhani, the team draws on over 15 years of joint experience in subsurface exploration, geothermal systems, and energy optimisation. Their approach repurposes geothermal principles for high-temperature regions, overcoming limitations of conventional systems built for colder climates. Strataphy has demonstrated electricity savings of up to 49% in commercial deployments, with clients including NEOM, King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Tabreed, and ADNOC Drilling.

Through its Cooling-as-a-Service model, Strataphy shifts the adoption of advanced systems from capital-intensive projects to predictable operating costs, supporting scalability and reliability. The fundraise will accelerate technology development and team growth, aiming to meet rising demand for efficient cooling solutions as AI and industrial infrastructure scale across the region.
