Teacherly, a collaborative edu-tech startup scores an undisclosed investment from Shorooq partner in their continuous efforts to support unique and transformative businesses in the Middle East. The investment aims to support Teacherly’s plans to grow its strong presence in the Middle East and further penetrate global markets.

Teacherly is a peer-to-peer platform tailored to the needs of teachers allowing them to communicate and digitally collaborate on lesson plans. By doing so, Teacherly invites a more synergetic experience to the education workspace. As Edu-tech emerges to become a prominent, the demand is high for education-related products but the market has put the main focus on students, but Teacherly looks the other way to promote teachers.

“Education is still one of the more conventional spaces that is underserved by the latest technology, and we are delighted to enter the space through a truly disruptive venture,” says Shane Shin, Founding Partner at Shorooq Partners.

“We are excited to join the journey of Teacherly at such an early stage and are committed to building it together – supporting it to grow its strong presence in the Middle East and further penetrate the European market. We believe that Teacherly solves a unique problem that few businesses have identified, let alone solve effectively, and is poised for exponential growth,” he added.

Teacherly was established in 2016 by Atif Mahmood in the United Kingdom, an educator who had experienced and suffered due to the lack of collaborative space in the workplace firsthand himself. “Despite the recent growth in Edu-tech, the teaching population in the Middle East is still heavily overlooked and underserved by the latest technology. We are confident that with Shorooq’s expertise and support, we can solve important problems for the education space here,” says Atif, founder of Teacherly.

Teacherly has previously successfully graduated from the inaugural Falcon Network accelerator programme and gained investment in early 2019.
