Google is introducing a new initiative called ‘Google for Startups Accelerator: Climate Change,’ to support startups in Egypt and the MENA region that are working on climate change solutions. The 10-week program, conducted both in-person and virtually, is open to Seed to Series A startups and offers valuable resources from Google Cloud.

Participants in the program will benefit from a range of activities, including one-on-one mentoring, group learning sessions, and workshops focused on product design, business growth, and leadership development. Google for Startups Accelerator: Climate Change also provides startups with access to Google Cloud technical expertise and credits through the Google for Startups Cloud Program.

"As more organizations navigate the necessary, sustainability-driven business transformations on the horizon, they’re looking for new tools and technology to help them,” Joyce Baz, Head of Communications at Google, tells #StartupScene.

“These programs will focus on identifying, supporting and scaling startups that are building technologies to combat climate change. This is the first time we’re running the program in MENA, we’re looking forward to welcoming participants in our region at a critical time when technology can unblock and accelerate decarbonization of the economy," Baz continued.

Throughout the program, startups will receive personalized mentoring from experienced engineers and business experts from Google and the wider ecosystem. Google will assign dedicated Startup Success Managers (SSMs) to provide support and further training on utilizing Google's best practices, tools, and personnel. The program will culminate in a Demo Day, where participants can showcase their achievements to Google teams, mentors, investors, partners, and key stakeholders from the region's startup ecosystems.

To be eligible for the program, startups should demonstrate traction and be in the Seed to Series A stage. They should also have scalable products or services with a significant total addressable market and a defensible growth model. Additionally, the program seeks startups focusing on sustainable technology climate solutions, cleantech, and green energy. Deep technical knowledge, particularly in areas like Machine Learning and AI, is preferred. Startups must have the commitment of their CTO or technical roles to participate in the required program sessions.

The application window is currently open until July 7th.
