Nexus AI Factory Initiative Launches in Morocco
The multi-phase project aims to position Morocco as a regional AI hub linking African and global markets.
A new artificial intelligence initiative, the Nexus AI Factory, has been introduced in Morocco on the sidelines of GITEX Africa 2026, with the aim of positioning the country as a strategic hub connecting African, European and global markets.
The project is led by Nexus Core Systems in partnership with the Ministère de la Transition Numérique et de la Réforme de l’Administration, MICEPP and AMDIE, forming part of a multi-year plan focused on infrastructure, skills and innovation ecosystems.
The initiative is structured around three core components: a high-performance computing data centre, a Centre of Excellence for advanced services and training, and an Innovation Hub to support emerging technologies and startup growth.
The project carries a total investment of MAD 12 billion and will be implemented in two phases starting in 2027. The first phase, located in Nouaceur, is valued at MAD 5 billion and will deliver 16 megawatts of infrastructure capacity, creating around 50 specialised jobs.
The second phase, planned for northern Morocco, is valued at MAD 7 billion and will add more than 20 megawatts of capacity, bringing total employment to approximately 125 roles.
Operations are set to run entirely on renewable energy through a partnership with TAQA Morocco, positioning the project as a model for environmentally sustainable AI infrastructure.
Global partners include Nvidia and Lloyds Capital, supporting technology development and investment.
