The Saudi-born payments company will absorb Amazon’s regional payments operations, creating a platform expected to process more than SR 150 billion annually.

Saudi-born PayTabs Group has agreed to acquire Amazon’s payments operations in the Middle East and North Africa in a transaction valued at more than $100 million.

The deal, which has been approved by both parties, would combine Amazon Payments MENA with PayTabs’ existing payments infrastructure across the region. The resulting platform is expected to process more than SR 150 billion in transactions annually.

PayTabs has spent years building banking integrations, regulatory licences and payment infrastructure across MENA. Its platform covers payment processing, automated switching and payouts, allowing the company to handle multiple parts of the payment chain directly.

The acquisition would significantly expand that footprint, while bringing Amazon Payments MENA’s regional operations into the same system. Integration is expected to focus on maintaining existing services while improving merchant onboarding and local regulatory compliance.

The transaction also represents a notable consolidation in a payments market that remains split across a range of local providers, banking systems and country-specific regulatory frameworks.
