Wearable Tech Firm WHOOP Launches First Intl. Performance Lab in Doha
The US wearable tech firm opens a research facility in Msheireb Downtown Doha.
US-based wearable technology company WHOOP has launched its first international performance lab in Doha, Qatar, supported by Invest Qatar. The facility, located in Msheireb Downtown Doha, is modelled on WHOOP Labs Boston and marks the company’s first research centre outside the United States.
The lab will focus on research and data collection related to human performance and healthspan, while enabling partnerships with local institutions to advance sport performance science. The expansion reflects the company’s growing presence in the GCC, which it describes as one of its fastest-growing markets.
WHOOP Labs operates on a research model centred on real-world data and applied science, using live user data to develop practical insights around sleep, recovery, physical strain and long-term health. In the United States, the company has collaborated with academic and medical institutions to shape product innovation, including the development of features such as Healthspan and WHOOP Age, which measure biological age and ageing metrics.
The Doha facility will apply the same research framework within a regional context, examining performance and recovery in conditions specific to the GCC, including high temperatures, late-night schedules and high-performance lifestyles. The company indicated that the lab will serve as a base for collaboration with athletes, researchers and institutions in the region, while contributing to global product development and innovation.
