Egypt Launches Third Edition of African App Launchpad Cup

ITIDA has teamed-up with IBM for the third edition of the competition, which will offer a prize pool of $72,000 for early-stage startups.

Aimed at supporting African tech startups and fueling innovation across the continent, Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has launched the third edition of the African App Launchpad Cup, a competition for early-stage startups and emerging entrepreneurs.

ITIDA - As executive arm of the Egyptian Ministry of Communication & Information Technology (MCIT) - has partnered with IBM for the third edition of this competition, with registration open until the end of October. The competition is part of the ‘African App Launchpad’ - a presidential initiative geared at developing the skills of 10,000 African youth and supporting 100 African startups focused on applications and game development.

The African Launchpad Cup will be run by the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) and will include two categories: application development and game development. Competitors will have the chance to win prizes from a pool of $72,000. Startups and next-generation developer communities will have access to IBM’s cutting-edge innovations in data and AI coupled with its hybrid cloud strategy.

The final round will see fifty startups present their projects and ideas before a panel of judges, who will choose three winners from each category.

Applications are open till October 31st. Head to techleaders.eg/aal/competition2021.
