With the pandemic impacting travel and tourism worldwide, this new accelerator is on the lookout for ‘future-proof’ solutions.
The Jordan Tourism Board has signed a memorandum of understanding with Venture X that will see the launch of a tourism-dedicated startup accelerator. Said to last three months, the accelerator will be a selective equity-based programme for tech startups and pre-scaleups in the travel industry. Specifically, they’ll be looking for ideas that develop ‘future-proof’ solutions that help travel companies thrive in the ‘new normal’ of life post-pandemic.
After the three-month intensive accelerator programme, the selected startups will undergo another three months of pilot implementation and the top ten startups will gain access to industry partners.
Jordan remains one of the richest untapped startup ecosystems in the region and, in hopes of revitalising the local tourism industry amid the destabilisation caused by the pandemic, it looks like the state is turning towards entrepreneurs to make it right. When this tourism accelerator will launch has yet to be disclosed.
