Abu Dhabi University Partners with twofour54 to Train Next Generation of Game Developers
A new programme will focus on arming both students and faculty members with important game development skills and opportunities.
Looking to put Abu Dhabi on the map in the ever fast-growing world of game development, Abu Dhabi University’s (ADU) has partnered with twofour54 – Abu Dhabi’s media free zone - which will provide ADU students with the unique opportunity to enrol in game development courses via gaming industry giant Unity Technologies, in addition to a dynamic Unity training programme for ADU faculty members under its ‘Train-the-Trainer’ programme. The collaboration is also expected to give ADU graduates a push at the start of their career by connecting them directly to Abu Dhabi-based companies within the twofour54 zone.
The courses will arm students interested in pursuing game development as a career with training, courseware, support and examinations required to both increase employability and earn game development qualifications outside of their degrees. As for faculty members, the partnership seeks to empower them to pass on vital knowledge to students in the field of game development, mainly revolving around developing their AI, game development, coding, and virtual reality (largely considered the future of games and expected to boom in the 2020s) skills.
“As one of the region’s leading academic institutions dedicated to fostering innovation and creative thinking, we are very excited to enter this partnership and work with twofour54 - the dynamic media zone that empowers people to innovate, collaborate, and create,” commented Dr. Waqar Ahmed, Chancellor of ADU, “With a finger on the pulse of tomorrow’s market needs, we commit ourselves to equip graduates with the tools and resources they need to become the creators, leaders, and self-starters of tomorrow.”
This move is also looking towards establishing Abu Dhabi as the leading game hub of both the UAE and the Middle East, focusing on technology, education, in addition to several incubation programmes for startups and student entrepreneurs alike, which with the heavy shift towards AR/VR technology is an extremely promising prospect.
