NEC Payments Becomes First Global Mastercard Fintech Express Partner
The partnership is expected to promote increased competitiveness and inclusion for the region’s fintech players.
Mastercard has announced Bahrain-based NEC Payments as the first global partner of Mastercard Fintech Express, setting a host of possibilities for startups and fintech players to kickstart Mastercard-issuing services and unlock opportunities within the ecosystem.
Launched in 2020, Mastercard Fintech Express enables regulated entities to procure a Mastercard license, helps fintechs as processors to become an Express Partner, and simplifies the process for startups who want to add payment solutions to their suite of products. It also helps tech startups connect with established players, namely banks, to launch new products.
“We are delighted to welcome NEC Payments as our global partner as we together support fintech innovation, and creation of more connections, better user experiences, wider inclusion, increased competitiveness and exciting new possibilities,” said J.K. Khalil, Mastercard Country Manager for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the Levant.
NEC Payments, formed in 2014, is a digital banking tech and service provider licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of Bahrain.
