UAE-Based Kids' Social Networking App Play:Date Aims for Expansion Following $100,000 Funding
Already available in 126 countries, the startup will now look to increase its 4,000-strong userbase.
UAE-based startup, Play:Date, has announced that it has secured $100,000 in funding to expand and enhance its platform, which allows parents to arrange playdates and form social circles for their children. The investment came via Emirati digital media agency, Boopin, who will also aid the startup amp up its digital presence.
Founded in 2017 by Shamim Kassibawi, Play:Date boasts almost 4,000 subscribers across its iOS and Android app and is active in 126 countries, including the US, UK, Australia, Singapore, India and New Zealand.
Beyond the funding, it’s hoped that the Dubai-based Boopin’s offices in Shanghai and Singapore can also aid in further expanding the footprint of a platform that isn’t burdened with the task of localising what is a universal service.
“As we move into our seed funding round, it is key for us to onboard the right strategic partners that add value and bring their knowledge and experience to the table,” Kassibawi said. “Joining hands with Boopin, a local startup that has successfully established subsidiary branches in Abu Dhabi, Shanghai and Singapore, was a natural fit to support Play: Date in our next stage of growth and international expansion.”
