US-Based Cloud Platform Snowflake Launches AI Data Cloud on AWS UAE
The launch brings Snowflake’s AI-ready data platform closer to UAE organisations, supporting low-latency analytics, governance and AI deployment.
Snowflake, a US-based cloud data platform company that provides data storage, analytics, and artificial intelligence infrastructure for enterprises, has announced the general availability of its AI Data Cloud on the Amazon Web Services Middle East (UAE) Region, as demand grows for secure and governed environments to support enterprise AI deployments in the country.
The expansion is intended to enable organisations in the UAE to access and analyse data with lower latency while addressing data residency and regulatory requirements. Snowflake said the move supports enterprises seeking to transition from AI strategy to implementation, particularly as organisations increase investment in advanced analytics and machine learning.
The launch aligns with the UAE’s National AI Strategy 2031, which focuses on strengthening digital infrastructure, developing talent and enabling innovation across sectors. By operating locally within the AWS UAE Region, customers can keep data closer to where it is generated and used, improving performance and supporting compliance obligations.
Snowflake said the UAE deployment builds on its collaboration with Amazon Web Services, noting that transaction volume through AWS Marketplace has doubled year on year globally, exceeding $2 billion in sales within a calendar year. The company has also received 14 awards from AWS, including multiple Partner of the Year recognitions across technology, industry and regional categories.
Through AWS Marketplace, enterprises can procure Snowflake services more efficiently and integrate them with existing AWS environments. New capabilities include catalog federation between AWS Glue Data Catalog and Snowflake catalogs, enabling access to Iceberg-format data governed by the Snowflake Horizon Catalog through AWS Glue. Additional features include catalog-linked databases that connect Snowflake databases directly to AWS Glue Data Catalog, with support for managed credentials and Amazon S3 Tables.
