Bitroot Ventures Launches Early-Stage Accelerator in Egypt

The programme will take founders from idea to MVP, accelerate 20 startups a year and invest up to EGP 5 million in selected companies.

Startup Scene

Bitroot Ventures has launched an early-stage accelerator in Egypt aimed at founders who are still turning ideas into testable products and preparing for their first institutional funding.

The model begins with a six-day Build Camp designed for around 50 ideas per cohort. Participants will work with advisors and specialists to develop minimum viable products using technology and AI tools, while receiving workspace, hosting, marketing support and training from AWS and NVIDIA at no cost.

Around 10 startups from each Build Camp will then move into a three-month accelerator focused on advisory support, customer introductions, network building and pitch preparation.

Five startups from each accelerator cohort will ultimately receive between EGP 2.5 million and EGP 5 million in funding. Bitroot Ventures will take between 10% and 14% equity depending on the investment size and plans to participate in later rounds.

CEO Fadi Antaki said the firm is targeting a gap at the earliest stages of startup development, where more founders are entering the market while funding before pre-seed has become harder to access.

Bitroot plans to run two Build Camps each year, reviewing around 100 ideas, accelerating 20 startups and investing in approximately 10 companies annually.

Applications are currently open, with around 60 ideas received so far. The firm expects that number to reach roughly 100 by mid-October, with applications closing on October 15th and the first Build Camp scheduled for the first half of November.

The programme is sector-agnostic, although Bitroot is prioritising startups that use technology and AI as part of their business models. More than 40 mentors and advisors are involved, while RiseUp has joined as a programme partner.

Participation will be in person at Bitroot’s Cairo location during the first year, with plans to expand into other governorates, particularly Upper Egypt.
