Arguably the world’s most prolific venture capital firm, 500 Startups has sured up its MENA fund, Falcons I, with the recruitment of Dubai-based asset management and investment banking platform, SHUAA Capital, as an advisor.

Under the guidance of its CEO, Jassim Al Seddiqi (pictured in main images), SHUAA Capital will support the Falcons I portfolio in financing and exit strategies as it nears the end of its deployment. The partnership comes off the back of SHUAA Capital’s reputation in the ecosystem, with a reported $13 billion in assets under management.

“We are thrilled to have SHUAA and Jassim with us as we prepare for the next phase of 500 in MENA,”  500 Startups COO, Courtney Powell, said of the announcement. “As a seasoned asset manager and executive, he brings a wealth of experience, and his service and mentorship will be invaluable to our portfolio founders.”

With additional offices throughout the Middle East and in the UK, SHUAA capital boasts a proven track record in leading investments, most notably in the fields of AI, edtech and fintech.
