Egypt's Dryve and Qatar's Fatora to Represent MENA at Seedstars International Demo Day
The demo day will be Seedstars’ first virtual edition and will see 18 startups from across the world take the spotlight.
As has been the case throughout local, regional and international ecosystems, Seedstars is set to take the biggest date on its calendar online, with the first ever virtual edition of the venture capital fund’s demo day set to take place on October 14th.
While many have decried the loss of the simple privilege of looking someone in the eye when you’re pitching to them, two startups from MENA’s ecosystem will be doing all they can to turn heads.
Chosen out of batches five and six of Seedstars’ post-accelerator program, Egyptian peer-to-peer car sharing platform, Dryve, and Qatari online invoicing platform, Fatora, are set to virtually take to the virtual stage as two of the 18 startups taking part.
While the concept of virtual pitching is yet to convince all, Seedstars aren’t resting on their laurels and have put the onus on the participating startups to make the most of it.
“We have two goals with demo day,” explains Seedstars CIO, Charlie Graham-Brown. “First, we have asked the founders to put the ‘demo’ back into demo day and I hope that participants will get real insights into how the companies operate and their value propositions. Second, we want to share with the world the incredible opportunity and talent we’ve discovered in 2020 and encourage more people to focus their time, money or know-how on emerging markets.
